Have you ever experienced groovy music increasing your fun and excitement, making you unconsciously move your body to the rhythm? This sensation of wanting to move your body when hearing a rhythm is called "groove."
Exercise, even at light intensity, stimulates the brain and enhances cognitive functions such as attention, concentration, and judgment. This paper found that people with high affinity for rhythms that induce groove (groove rhythms) can stimulate the prefrontal cortex and enhance executive function just by listening to groove rhythms, without exercising.
This research was conducted with Lecturer Ochi participating in research led by Assistant Professor Takemune Fukuie from Hokkaido University of Health Sciences and Professor Hideaki Soya from the University of Tsukuba.
