Sosuke Nakano (Ochi Lab, 4th year) and the NUHW Men's Soccer Top Team won the 74th All Japan University Soccer Championship (Intercollegiate) Reinforcement Round Final, defeating Toin Yokohama University 2-1!
About the Reinforcement Round
This year's Intercollegiate Championship features a "Reinforcement Round" that gives a second chance to teams eliminated in the preliminary round. The region of the team that wins this round receives an additional slot for next year's championship.
This victory not only brings honor to the team but also contributes to the development of soccer across the Hokushinetsu region.
Tournament Results
Reinforcement Round Knockout Stage
Semi-final (December 19)
- NUHW 2-0 Matsumoto University
Final (December 20)
- NUHW 2-1 Toin Yokohama University
The team originally aimed to advance to the Final Round and compete for the national championship. Being eliminated in the preliminary round must have been disappointing. However, rather than giving up, they won every match in the Reinforcement Round and claimed the title—and that is truly meaningful.
We are proud of Nakano and all the players for giving their best in the situation they were given and achieving this result.
