On January 30, 2026 (Thursday), a joint thesis presentation was held by the Sports Physiology Lab (Yamashiro Lab, Fujimoto Lab, Sato Daisuke Lab, and Ochi Lab). From Ochi Lab, Kyoka Shimizu and Kazutoshi Kawata, who received the Best Thesis Award and Excellence Award at Ochi Lab's thesis presentation, represented our lab.
Presenters and Research Themes
Kyoka Shimizu
- Research Theme: "Usefulness of morning HRV and hair stress hormones for predicting condition: A case study of female long-distance runners"
Kazutoshi Kawata
- Research Theme: "Effects of high-intensity interval exercise in virtual reality environments on executive function"
Shimizu-san investigated the potential of predicting athletic condition by measuring morning heart rate variability (HRV) and hair stress hormones (cortisol and oxytocin) in female long-distance runners. Kawata-kun examined the effects of high-intensity interval exercise in virtual reality (VR) environments on brain executive function.
Both students confidently presented their research findings to faculty and students of the Sports Physiology Lab, followed by lively Q&A sessions.
Great work to both presenters!
